David - whilst I don't have the same model as you do, I encounter
similar problems with an Acoustic Solutions SP110 separate. It displays the
same symptoms as you describe, then it 'fixes' itself and then voila it
happens again a little while later.
I've put it down to lots of reasons, but chiefly the fact that DAB ain't
as good as promised. Despite my initial thoughts DAB reception is fast going
downhill.
I also have a Roberts Gemini 1 and whilst its reception is usually (but
not always) pretty reliable, its now stopped displaying any DAB info via
"the easy to read multi-function LCD display". I don't think this is a
problem with the device itself, but related to the standard of the DAB
reception, based on other experiences.
I hate to say it but it looks like I have to agree with Steve (DAB
sounds worse than FM) in his views that outl;ine the poor support DAB is
getting in this country.

Hi Edward,
I've been listening to DAB radio for slightly more than a year now and agree
with most of the negative comments that have been levelled in this
newsgroup. Now though, I have a choice of more stations, some on FM and some
on DAB, some producing really good quality sound, some not quite so good. I
now own three DAB radios, the one I have in the kitchen is a Roberts Gemini
3 DAB/FM. It has bass and treble controls, was the first DAB I received (as
a present). The sound quality is, in my opinion, very poor. It generally
sounds rather muffled, lacking higher frequencies. It was so poor that I
thought I had a faulty set, but someone from Robert's Radio helpline sort of
agreed with me and described the sound as 'somewhat mellow'.
My second DAB radio was a Pure Tempus. I can't really find fault with it and
it has a very impressive punchy sound quality when you consider its size...
much, much better that the aforementioned Roberts Gemini 3.
Finally, I was bought a Roberts RD-1 for Christmas. A very nice DAB/FM radio
with Pause, Rewind and Record facilities. Generally very pleased with it so
far, my only gripe being that if you are listening to a recording, you can't
fast forward or rewind and if for any reason you stop it half way through,
you have to listen to it all over again to get to the bit where you left
off!
I have a 256k SD card and that will allow well in excess of four hours of
recording time at 128 k/bits/sec. However, you can only record one
item on the card at any one time; doesn't matter whether it is a
three-minute song or a three hour concert.
Another posting on this newsgroup suggests that a new download for the Pure
Bug has improved upon this situation... don't know whether Roberts are
planning anything similar, but I'll be giving them a ring tomorrow to find
out.
Regards... David Allan.
